Updated WSU Policy on Individual and Institutional Conflict of Interest and Commitment in response to NIH

In accordance with federal regulations, each institution conducting research funded by the Public Health Service must maintain and enforce an appropriate policy on conflict of interest (COI). Please note that the WSU Policy on Individual and Institutional Conflict of Interest and Commitment has been updated in response to NIH's Compliance Program on Financial Conflict of Interest. The revised research policy can be found at http://research.wayne.edu/coi/docs/wsu-financial-conflict-of-interest-and-commitment-research-policy.pdf.
In July of 2010, the NIH issued a notice of proposed rulemaking on "Financial Conflict of Interest Regulations, Responsibility of Applicants for Promoting Objectivity in Research for Which Public Health Service Funding is Sought and Responsible Prospective Contractors." The major proposed changes can be found at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/policy/coi/major_proposed_changes.pdf. We anticipate that further changes to our institutional policies on COI will be required when the final rule is published, sometime before October of this year.
